Review
Maxthon Classic 1.6 is the last release of this Web browser based on the Internet Explorer engine. Its best characteristics include fast page loading, plus a whole lot of popular plugins, similar to those you manually add to FireFox. It comes in over 40 languages, including Hebrew.
The difference between the normal version of Maxthon and the Classic version is that the latter is lighter; it does not contain as many plugins, or customization options. It was designed to use less system resources, to be more stable in Vista, block Adware, and support plugins. Like other browsers, it has skins, tabs, bookmarks in groups, but something that others do not have is the Web page auto-scrolling feature, or the URL auto-fill, which will complete the 'http://' and the '.com' , if you are holding the Ctrl key. It is definitely a better option than Internet Explorer (it's free, too); but Chrome, Mozilla, and other browsers still offer better compatibility and security.
The new version is now able to work in safe mode. Also, 'Auto suggest' was added in the search box, plus the ability to use old-style multiple search. However, the Classic version will no longer be updated, and support has been discontinued, since as of December 2008 Maxthon International focuses on the Complete version. |
